The studio

roblero is a New York–based studio that specializes in creating customized men’s and women’s clothing that is contemporarily designed with historical accuracy and thoughtful functionality.

Our studio offers a carefully crafted experience of thousands of highly curated fabrics, organized by color and weight, with an expanded selection of customizations that have been carefully chosen to ensure each item avoids short trend cycles.

The custom clothing industry is saturated with brands that tout unlimited customization and elite expertise, but in reality, endless possibilities stifle focus, and the experience often falls short of what is promised. We believe thoughtful guidance and focused design selections result in a unique product that is created with an understanding of why design selections are chosen, ensuring it remains relevant into the future.

I have designed and fitted custom-made clothing for thousands of people, incorporating my formal training in psychology and a deep knowledge of the history of tailored clothing to offer clients educated, specific design suggestions.

My background is a bit unconventional. I was born in San Francisco, and my understanding of the luxury market was shaped during years spent managing fine wine cellars in Napa, California, before I moved to New York to pursue stand-up comedy. It was in New York that I developed an appreciation for tailored clothing, inspired by people in the city trying to look their best.

Fashion and style have intrigued me for decades. I now see clothing as a kind of skin; a designed surface shaped by politics, courtship, and climate. I studied psychology in college with the intention of becoming a therapist, and in an unexpected way, that education now informs the support I lend to our clients and designs, with the intention of providing a unique styling experience.

we begin by learning about you, your lifestyle, preferences, and overall disposition to guide design decisions that align naturally with how you live.

fabric selection is shaped by occasion and climate. this phase focuses on narrowing design choices to a clear, considered set.

fit

dozens of measurements are recorded and used to determine fit based on your physique, the garment, and any specific fit requests. this information is saved for future reference.

creation

your measurements are sent to our production house, where your garment is crafted through either our modern sewing process or our fully handmade option.

arrival

you’ll be notified when your garment is ready for its first fitting. any necessary alterations are handled locally, followed by a confirmation fitting or nationwide shipping.

Honoring the Material

From the wool sheared and dyed from sheep and alpacas, to the soft cashmere of goats; from the Gossypium and flax plants that provide our cottons and linens, to the ox horn and mollusks that form our natural horn and shell buttons, each material is chosen with intention. We also recognize the role of human ingenuity in developing modern textiles that offer qualities such as stretch and luster, which we use sparingly and often interweave with natural fibers to enhance comfort and functionality while minimizing environmental impact. Our fabric offering is intentionally curated so the right fabric is easy to identify, allowing more time for design and fit assessment.

Designing with Education

We strive to develop designs that are true to the historical blueprint of each garment. Certain design choices are more appropriate, and more functional, for specific pieces based on a range of factors. This process is central to our work and ensures every garment is built on informed design decisions and crafted to age thoughtfully over time.

Clothing as a Representative

Each design highlights its contemporary relevance (how it is worn in the present day), while being developed with functionality in mind, so it is as useful as it is a work of art. Modern clothing often follows a trend cycle, but Roblero does not aim to blindly follow newly set rules. Clothing is made for you, and you should feel confident that it reflects your personality accurately for years, if not decades, into the future.

By creating made-to-order products we produce only what is needed which reduces excess inventory and minimizes waste.
