Description

The tuxedo is a deliberate design shift from the formality of the long tailcoat. Its history is traced to the late nineteenth century at a place called Tuxedo Park, a private area in New York where high society members started wearing shorter jackets to informal events. Tuxedos are identified by their satin detailing, such as the stripe on the trousers, and the satin lapels which are meant to gently reflect dim light.
